MINDEN, Iowa — Friday's tornado in Minden killed one person and injured three others while destroying about half of the town. The man who died from his injuries, identified by family as 63-year-old Nick Ring, was unconscious when first responders found him, a deputy with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office told KETV.

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Below is a list of updates we have received from area officials on Sunday. EMERGENCY DECLARED: Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen has issued an emergency declaration for Douglas, Washington, and Lancaster counties in response to Friday’s tornadoes. The declaration opens up the Governor’s Emergency Fund for use. Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a state of emergency for Pottawattamie County on Friday.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds added eight more counties to a disaster proclamation Monday, opening up more funds for people impacted by Friday's deadly tornadoes. At this point, one person was killed from injuries in Minden, while several others were hurt. Four EF3 tornadoes hit Iowa Friday night (one started in Nebraska and crossed the state line). Twenty-four tornadoes have been tallied so far by the National Weather Service.

(Omaha) The National Weather Service in Omaha says the tornado that struck Minden is rated an EF-3. This tornado formed east of McClelland, while the previous Treynor/McClelland tornado was in the process of dissipating (info on that tornado below). The tornado tracked north-northeast through the eastern part of Minden to the immediate east of Tennant, then west of Harlan and the immediate east of Defiance before dissipating just south of the Shelby/Crawford County line. The tornado began at 5:25 p.m. and ended at 6:29 p.m., tracking 40.9 miles. The estimated peak winds were 160 mph. The max width of the tornado was 1700 yards.
