WG&E offers heat pump rebates up to $6,000 for conversion from fossil fuels
WESTFIELD — Westfield Gas & Electric is offering an up to $6,000 rebate to customers for installing an air source heat pump in their homes. Specifically, it will be reimbursing at a rate of $1,500 per ton, Key Accounts and Sales Manager Andrew Short said at an April 24 seminar. For a 2½-ton unit, that equals $3,750. A 3-ton unit, which is what’s needed for a whole home system, would net a $4,500 rebate, Short said.
Westfield councilors vote $11M athletic fields bond without PFAS restrictions
WESTFIELD — With the 2022 state championship Bombers softball team looking on, the Westfield City Council retook the first of two votes for the $11.1 million athletic fields bond on April 23, passing it 10-2, with councilors Bridget Matthews-Kane and Kristen Mello voting against it. A bomb threat led to the evacuation of a West Springfield theater Friday evening, but it turned out to be unsubstantiated, according to West Springfield police. A 911 caller reported a bomb threat at the Cinemark Theater on Riverdale Street just before 5:10 p.m., West Springfield police said in a press release.
