39 arrested in Massachusetts State Police sweep ‘Operation May Flower’

LAWRENCE, Mass. (WWLP) – More than three dozen people were arrested along with over 300 citations issued during ‘Operation May Flower’ by Lawrence police, Massachusetts State Police, and Essex County Sheriff’s Department.

The three-day operation took place from April 23rd to the 25th and targeted motor vehicle infractions, drug dealing, gang activity, and subjects of warrants for violent crimes. Police seized or towed numerous vehicles, including five illegal dirt bikes.

In total, there were 303 citations for motor vehicle violations and equipment deficiencies, 39 individuals were arrested, and nine criminal summonses.

The operation was led by Lawrence Police Lieutenant Jay Cerullo and Massachusetts State Police Lieutenant Peter Morawiak with the help of the state police helicopter.
