Protesters gather on E. State and Perryville intersection
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Passionate individuals of all ages gather at a busy Rockford intersection for a pro-Palestine protest. On Saturday, Dozens of protesters arrived to show their support and demand the violence to stop. Protesters lined the roads of E. State and Perryville with Palestine flags, signs and ‘Free Palestine’ chants while cars made their way through the intersection.
Scattered strong to severe storms Saturday afternoon

Rochelle man pleads not guilty to cocaine charges
OREGON – A Rochelle man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to five drug charges and one weapons charge. Darnell A. Wilson, 37, is charged with three counts of possessing cocaine with the intent to deliver in a drug-free zone, one count of possessing fentanyl with the intent to deliver, and one count of possessing MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.
Storms are starting to form across the stateline
STATELINE. (WIFR) - Storms have started to form across the stateline. These storms would be considered pulse thunderstorms which are very normal during the spring and summer. It means that these storms will form, rain, and be off the radar in 30-60 minutes. With these damaging winds and hail are the primary concern with these kinds of thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded our southwestern counties to a slight risk, while the rest of us are in a marginal risk. These storms will continue to rise and fall until around 7-8 p.m.

Area Veterans, families gather to attend Purple Heart Memorial unveiling
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - The LZ Peace group welcomes veterans and their families to the Purple Heart Memorial unveiling event. The Purple Heart, created in 1782 by George Washington, is a U.S. military decoration awarded to those wounded or killed in action. Military member that are bestowed with a Purple Heart medal are recognized to have greatly sacrificed themselves, or paid the ultimate price while in the line of duty.
