Woman charged with home invasion, battery and bodily harm

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Ashantice Lusby, 22, for invading a home and punching the victim in the head several times.

On January 10th, 2023, Lusby, along with another woman and man, kicked down the door of a home in the 1400 block of Meadow Court. The victim told police they were all wearing masks and one of them was armed with a handgun.

The victim was hit multiple times in the head and body and she fought back in self-defense, officials said. The woman pulled the mask off of one of the intruders but the male intruder pushed her down and kicked her in the face, according to court documents.

According to authorities, one of the intruders said “grab her purse” and “let’s get out of here” so they all ran out the door. When officials arrived, they took the mask left behind at the scene as evidence, police said.

Officials also watched a surveillance video that showed two female suspects getting out of a Chevy Malibu parked outside the apartment and the male suspect kicking the door in as they all entered the apartment.

On January 13th, 2023, authorities were able to locate the vehicle, the driver and identify Lusby as the front passenger. Both of the suspects were interviewed about the home invasion and Lusby agreed to provide a DNA sample.

On March 20th, 2024, the results came in from the Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services and the results provided robust support that Lusby’s DNA matched the DNA on the mask left behind at the scene.

Lusby was booked into the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office Jail on May 2nd and her next court appearance is on May 15th.
