BYRON, Ill. (WTVO) — Daniel Walters, 54, of Rockford, was arrested Thursday on drug charges after he was stopped by police in Ogle County.

According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped Walters at the intersection of Route 2 and Route 72 in Byron around 2:19 p.m. for a traffic offense.

During the investigation, authorities found crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

He was also wanted in Winnebago County for fleeing police, officials said.

In addition to multiple traffic violations, Walters faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Crack/Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

He was processed at the Ogle County Jail and given a notice to appear for his Ogle County charges, and held in lieu of bond for the Winnebago County warrant.
