Delta County scouts plant trees to celebrate Arbor Day
ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - Escanaba’s Department of Public Works had some helpers plant trees for Arbor Day on Friday. Girls and boys from local scout troops gathered at Ludington Park for the annual tree planting and celebration. Kids followed a chalk outline to dig out the hole where the trees would go, and a city worker helped remove roots the miniature shovels couldn’t handle.

Bay College EMT students get hands-on rescue training
ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - On Friday morning, college students studying emergency medical technology got hands-on experience during rescue mission training in Delta County. Organizers said learning how to first properly go down a hill with a harness was the most important lesson EMT Bay College students learned today. Delta County Search and Rescue equipment and logistics manager Matt Jensen said this training held at the Days River Trailhead in Gladstone happens every year. He said he and his team create realistic rescue scenarios.
