Maroon girls clobber Bark River-Harris, Carney-Nadeau

MENOMINEE — The Menominee High School softball team closed out the week with consecutive doubleheader victories on Thursday and Friday.

The Maroons took down Bark River Harris by way of 16-6 and 15-0 decisions on Thursday before blowing out Carney-Nadeau in back-to-back games 16-0 and 19-0.

Menominee’s hit parade was out in full force against the Wolves, with the Maroons out-hitting C-N by a 28-1 margin.

Both contests saw the Maroons jump out to enormous leads in the bottom of the first inning, with Menominee seizing an 11-0 lead in game one and a 17-0 advantage in game two.

Mady Barker pitched a three-inning no-hitter in game one, setting down nine batters in 35 pitches and striking out four.

Kam Olson belted a pair of home runs while Barker tacked on a moonshot of her own, giving the Maroons 19 dingers on the year.

Game two saw Olson allow just one hit in three innings pitched against nine strikeouts on the mound while adding four RBIs on a 3-of-4 showing at the dish.
