Route 61 in Northumberland closed due to crash
Shamokin, Pa. — Motorists are advised that Route 61 is closed in both directions between Route 2020 (Mountain Road) and Route 487 in Ralpho Township, north of Shamokin Borough, Northumberland County, due to a vehicle crash with downed utilities. A detour using Mountain Road, Route 54, and Route 61 is in place. Crash on Route 147 closes all lanes in Northumberland County
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Drivers can expect delays after a crash on Route 147 in Northumberland County on Friday evening. A tractor-trailer crash on the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation (CSVT) River Bridge prompted Route 147, southbound, to close at the Route 1014 (Ridge Road) interchange in Point Township, Northumberland County.
Man charged with attempted homicide for Milton shooting
Milton, Pa. — A Sunbury man was arrested Friday and charged with criminal attempted homicide for a shooting that injured two people last week in Milton. Victhian Jovier Pitre-Rodriguez was taken into custody upon his discharge earlier today from Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, according to a release from Milton Borough Police Department. Evicted tenant allegedly steals rental unit appliances
Mifflinburg, Pa. — A woman who was evicted from a rental unit in West Buffalo Township is accused of stealing the appliances and selling them on social media. Tammy Lee Stuck, 54, of Mifflinburg was charged after the landlord notified state police at Milton on April 2 of the alleged theft. The landlord evicted Stuck on April 1. International Female Ride Day is a worldwide celebration taking place annually on the first Saturday in May. Letter to the Editor: Provide more resources for IPVA and Title IX
Bucknell University is home to extreme rates of sexual assault. Exacerbated by the lack of institutional trust and subsequent underreporting of sexual violence, these rates are likely even more pervasive than reported. To effectively combat the alarmingly high rates of violence on our campus, we must designate significantly more resources for sexual violence prevention and education. It is critical we re-imagine the bare framework of Bucknell into a structure that supports the valid needs of victim-survivors, adheres to inclusivity and prevention, and is comparable to institutions with similar assets as Bucknell.

Woman charged for public drunkenness
Lewisburg, Pa. — A woman who nearly got struck by a vehicle while she was crossing the street was charged with public drunkenness. The 37-year-old woman tried walking across West Branch Highway near North Derr Drive and North Seventh Street near Burger King, said Trp. Bradley Derk of state police at Milton. Derk watched as a vehicle almost struck the Port Treverton woman as she crossed the highway just after 9 p.m. last week. She was stopped and charged with public drunkenness.
