SUNBURY, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Crews battled a house fire on Thursday afternoon in Northumberland County.

According to Russell Wertz, Second Assistant Chief of Sunbury, crews were called to the intersection of South 7th and Chestnut Street just before 4:00 p.m. for a working second alarm fire.

Upon arrival, first responders said there was a lot of smoke and fire near the back of the residence.

Multiple streets were shut down to set up the fire scene, according to Wertz.

No one was injured, but three people are currently displaced, and The Red Cross is also currently helping the family, according to authorities.

Officials say the family will not be able to live in the home at this time, but it is unknown if the home is a total loss.

Wertz stated the fire was not considered suspicious, but the fire marshal is coming to investigate the scene.
