Sturdy Pink Dogwoods Form Natural Canopy over Pathway in Somerville's Historic Cemetery
SOMERVILLE, NJ - Elm Avenue wends its way through the quiet solitude of the New Cemetery on South Bridge Street, with 19th and 20th-century gravestones and massive concrete monoliths off to each side of the packed dirt pathway. It is just one of many pathways that lead visitors to the final resting place of relatives and notable citizens of the borough, but it stands out from the others at this time of year because of the magnificent canopy of pink dogwoods that overshadow the other sturdy hardwoods and mature pine trees that reflect the longevity of this historic...

Remembering America's Last Train Holdup -- on the Princeton Dinky Line
Princeton, NJ – Editor’s note: As you might notice (or hear) if you happen to walk down Prospect Avenue near the university campus this Saturday or Sunday, this is Houseparties Weekend, the moment when regular classes have ended and before final exams have started – the perfect moment for the undergraduate eating clubs to throw parties outdoors on their spacious lawns during the days and indoors at night. The Houseparties tradition hasn’t changed much in the last 60 years, and probably not even in the last 100 years. For all that tradition, there has never been a...

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Ronnie Li and Jay Grusholz of the East Brunswick Regional Chamber of Commerce passed the "red envelope" to the managers of Asian Food Market on Route 18 South this week as a wish for good luck at the sparkling-clean and contemporary new location. Red envelopes are usually filled with money and symbolize good wishes and luck for the new year ahead. The importance of the hóngbāo isn't the cash held inside, though; it's actually the envelope itself. The red color symbolizes good luck and prosperity in Chinese (and other East Asian) cultures. Mayor Brad Cohen and Economic...
