WATCH: Airport camera captures apparent tornado north of Joplin, Mo.
NEAR JOPLIN, Mo. (KY3) - An apparent tornado hit an area north of Joplin on Thursday. A camera at the Joplin Regional Airport captured the twister miles away, moving north to northeast of the city from the Carl Junction area. The storm hit around 2 p.m. It led the National Weather Service to issue a warning for northern Jasper County and southern Barton County.

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. ( KOAM) — Joplin storm sirens sounded just after 1:30 p.m. LEO-FIRE spotted a looming storm cloud with rotation near Airport Drive. NWS issued a Tornado Warning as a Thunderstorm at 1:41 p.m. capable of producing a tornado near Airport Drive. Radar indicated rotation soon after. Expired 2:15 p.m.

Webb City residents asked to check their water pipes
WEBB CITY, Mo. — Webb City is sending out thousands of letters to check a potential impact to the water supply. They’re sending out a voluntary survey asking residents to check their water pipes to see if they’re made of lead. It’s part of a statewide effort by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to determine how many lead water pipes remain in use.
