Dodge City Pours it On Late in Win Over LHS Girls
For over 61 minutes, the Lady Red soccer team was playing first place Dodge City to a scoreless tie Tuesday night at Dodge City Memorial Stadium. But the Dodge City Red Demons scored three goals in the last 18:24 to beat LHS 3-0. Dodge City leads the WAC at 5-0-1 and 9-3-1 overall. Liberal falls to 7-5-1 and plays at Topeka Friday night.
Ten Run First Foils Redskins
The bottom of the first inning determined the game. Aidan Schwindt singled and Brooks Kappelmann doubled off the wall in left. Zayden Martinez drove home Schwindt for his team leading 24th RBI and a Redskin lead. But the Dodge City Red Demons countered sending 14 hitters to the plate and scoring 10 runs on six hits and an error. Aidan Schwindt went 2-3 in the loss. Dodge City is 7-12 overall and 3-4 in the WAC. The Redskins falls to 11-8 overall and 1-5 in the WAC. It’s Liberal’s fifth straight loss at Dodge City with the last win coming in 2017. Liberal plays at 16-4 defending state champ Blue Valley West Friday at 4:30.
Arrest made in Red Oak theft case
(Red Oak) -- A Coldwater, Kansas man faces charges in connection with a Red Oak theft investigation. Red Oak Police say 28-year-old Dylan Elwood Taylor was arrested early Sunday morning on a valid Montgomery County warrant for 2nd degree theft, a class D felony. The arrest took place in 2000 block of Commerce Drive shortly before 3 a.m.
