Man jailed for starting fire in basement of Kansas home
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Police investigating a fire at a home in Topeka have made an arrest. Just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, crews responded to a reported house fire at 1305 SW Western Avenue in Topeka, according to spokesperson Rosie Nichols. Firefighters found smoke coming from the home and fire in the basement. Crews were able to extinguish the fire and no occupants were located in the house. No injuries have been reported.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs has been convicted on two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. DOUGLAS COUNTY—Authorities are investigating a crash that occurred just after 1:30p.m. Thursday in the city of Lawrence. A driverless semi rolled about 300 feet from 11th and Maine, through a 4-foot retaining wall, over a patio, between two houses, and came to rest against a home’s foundation, according to a social media report from the Lawrence Police Department.
