Work to begin on U.S. 56/400 in Ford and Gray County
DODGE CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Work begins soon on U.S. Highway 56 and U.S. Highway 400 in Ford and Gray County. The Kansas Department of Transportation says crews will begin resurfacing work starting Monday, May 13. The 27-mile project will be done in sections, starting with just east of Montezuma, working east to U.S. 56/400/183 Junction in Dodge City.

17 years since EF5 tornado struck Greensburg
GREENSBURG, Kan. (KWCH) - May 4, 2007, is a day that will always be remembered in Kansas and among those who track severe weather. On that day, 17 years ago, an EF5 tornado nearly wiped out the entire town of Greensburg. The twister struck around 9:45 p.m. that night killing 11 people and injuring 63 others. According to the National Weather Service, the tornado destroyed 95 percent of the town, which consisted of 1,383 people, and caused around $250 million in damage.
