CULLMAN, Ala. – A fire in the early morning hours Thursday, April 25, claimed the home and possessions of a Cullman woman who is now left to pick up the pieces. KJ Canaday was abruptly awakened around 1 a.m. on Thursday to the sight of smoke and fire engulfing her home. The fire, caused by a small air conditioner unit exploding, quickly spread throughout the house, leaving it in ruins. Cullman man arrested following Berlin shooting incident
Updated April 27, 2024, at 1:46 p.m. CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office said a Cullman man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and firing into an occupied vehicle following an incident that happened in the Berlin community Friday, April 26. Deputies responded to the report of a shooting in the Berlin community on Friday, and while en route were informed that a victim had left the scene in a vehicle. The victim was located at a nearby business where deputies rendered aid until paramedics arrived. Additional deputies continued to the original scene of the alleged crime and located Kenneth Wade Bentley, 43, of Cullman. The CCSO said Bentley stated that the victim and two other individuals arrived at his residence earlier and an argument ensued. The argument allegedly escalated into an altercation ultimately resulting in Bentley shooting the victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Suspect sought following Saturday pursuit
(7:25 p.m.) UPDATE: Cody Brown is in custody CULLMAN, Ala. – Earlier today, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the East Point area. The driver, identified as Cody Weston Brown, 32, of Crane Hill, stopped and immediately fled the area on foot, according to the CCSO. Deputies and Cullman police officers attempted to locate Brown but were unsuccessful. The CCSO said Brown has active warrants. “Any information as to his whereabouts is greatly appreciated,” the CCSO said in a statement. “Deputies will continue to be in the area as well. CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday, April 22, approved an amendment to the City’s zoning ordinance to govern the location and signage of vape retailers.
