YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Reports said a man police tried to pull over Tuesday for running a stop sign led police on a chase through parts of the South Side before he was arrested.

Garrett Craig, 31, was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony; possession of crack cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; and three misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Craig is expected to be arraigned later Wednesday in municipal court. He also has an open warrant from Trumbull County on a drug charge, reports said.

Police tried pulling over a car about 4:25 p.m. driven by Craig that ran a stop sign at Kenmore Avenue and Hillman Street, reports said, but the car failed to stop and led police on a chase that at times reached speeds of 70 miles per hour, reports said.

Reports said the chase continued until the car turned onto Erie Street from West Midlothian Boulevard and came to a stop.

Inside the car, police found cocaine and crack pipes, reports said.

Reports said a female passenger was cited for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia also and released at the scene.
