    Yakima man dies in head-on collision with semi truck near Zillah Wednesday

    ZILLAH, Wash. -- WSP said a Yakima man died after hitting a semi truck head on near Zillah.

    Troopers responded to the crash just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 on I-82 at milepost 47. The crash closed the highway for several hours and a detour for drivers was SR-22 and US-97.

    According to officials, the man was traveling eastbound on I-82 and crossed into the median, hitting the semi truck which was driving westbound.

    Police said it's unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved and the cause of the crash is still being investigated.

    WSP has not released the name of the man who died in the crash.
