Softball Recap: McKinlee Maxfield leads Honaker to victory over Rural Retreat
Honaker won the last time they faced Rural Retreat, and things went their way on Monday too. The Honaker Tigers came out on top against the Rural Retreat Indians by a score of 9-6. McKinlee Maxfield tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.
Lady Cougars tennis team beats C’burg
Please find the results of the girls tennis match vs. Salem from May 10th:. We lost the overall match 1-8 vs. Salem. ¨I am very proud of the improvement and growth we have shown from last season to this season. We finished the season with 6 wins and 10 losses. We earned 2 wins each versus Cave Spring, Christiansburg, and Carroll. We also had two very tightly contested 4-5 losses to Hidden Valley. We were that close to finishing the season with 8 wins and 8 losses. The hard work we have put in during the offseason and in season practices have certainly paid off. Each girl on the team has improved and we look forward to building on the successes of this season going forward!¨
CCRTA to meet May 10
The Carroll County Retired Teachers Social Club will meet May 10 at 11:30 am at the Briarpatch Restaurant located at 119 South Main Street in Galax. Meal prices range from $5.00 to $13.50. All retired school personnel in the Hillsville, Galax, and Carroll County are invited to attend. Family and friends are invited. Police searching for ‘missing, endangered’ man last seen in Pulaski
The Pulaski Police Department (PPD) says it is searching for 33-year-old Paul Michael Hanks. During their investigation, officers learned that Hanks was captured on video footage near the Food Lion on 1200 East Main Street around 7:45 a.m.
Town of Hillsville chosen for READY initiative
