WORCESTER — A 16-inch water main broke in the area of 725 Grafton St. early Tuesday morning, leaving a section of the city with rusty water.

Traffic was redirected in the area near the water main Tuesday afternoon as crews worked to repair the pipe. By noon Wednesday, the street had a temporary layer of asphalt and traffic was moving in both directions.

Residents experienced rusty water, with a spokesman for the city saying it was not harmful.

The water main is near the fire station at 745 Grafton St.
