According to police, this “family” sets up in parking lots, at Interstate I8 on and off ramps, and sometimes on the side of the road asking for gas money or cash to help them get to another state. These people will offer what they claim is expensive jewelry at a discounted price so they can have the cash or any handouts as they are in need. If someone buys the jewelry, they find out it is fake when they go to sell it.

As part of HSOY’s “Dogs Day Out” program, a dog got to spend part of Wednesday, March 15, at Gila Ridge High School visiting classrooms in an approved area on campus. The dog, a boxer named “Ernesto,” has spent most of his young life in a kennel after coming to the Humane Society as a puppy less than a year ago. Additional officers will be used to rove city streets looking to stop and arrest drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs. These DUI patrols are, in addition to regularly scheduled patrol officers, all looking for the signs of an impaired driver behind the wheel.
