The Oregon Health Authority will hold a virtual public hearing this week on the proposed merger between Kroger and Albertsons.

Kroger owns Fred Meyer, and Albertsons merged with Safeway in 2015. Fred Meyer and Safeway are Wilsonville’s primary grocery stores, along with a Costco.

The hearing will be held from 1-3 p.m. on April 24. Representatives from Kroger and Albertsons will be present at the meeting to provide testimony and answer questions, according to the Oregon Health Authority website.

The OHA included a list of questions for the companies, which cover how the merger would impact pharmacy operations and the potential impact to pharmacy customers. Specifically, OHA will ask about the companies’ stated commitment not to close stores or eliminate frontline positions, as well as how Kroger and Albertsons would merge pharmacy operations.
