28-year-old Kahoka man ejected in ATV accident
A 28-year-old Kahoka man was seriously injured in an ATV accident near Highway 81 and Court Street in Kahoka, Missouri, on May 17, 2024. The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dreston Brunk was driving a 2007 Honda Recon ATV eastbound in a parking lot when he accelerated and lost control of the vehicle. The ATV overturned, ejecting Brunk.
Three from Quincy, one from Hannibal killed in three-vehicle crash on U.S. 36 near Macon
MACON, Mo. — Four people died in a three-vehicle crash on Friday morning on U.S. 36 near Macon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2018 Toyota Camry driven by Jean Jones, 85, of Macon was southbound and failed to yield, striking a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox that was eastbound on U.S. 36 and was driven by Julie Alspaugh, 56, of Hannibal. Alspaugh lost control of the Equinox, which traveled into the path of a 2016 Freightliner that was westbound on U.S. 36 and driven by Eugene A. Niethe III of Wood River, Ill.
Warsaw woman arrested at work after special needs son found wandering around neighborhood
WARSAW, Ill. — A Warsaw woman is facing child abandonment and child endangerment charges after an incident on Tuesday. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department received a report at approximately 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 of a young boy with special needs wandering the neighborhood near Sixth and Jackson in Warsaw. The young boy was found by a neighbor after he had tried to enter another neighbor’s home. The boy was found in an unsanitary state. The caller discovered, and then reported, that the boy’s mother was not at home.

Lewis Co. domestic disturbance leads to arrest
EWING, Mo. — A Ewing man is in the Lewis County Jail and faces fourth-degree assault charges. Deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call on Tuesday, May 14, in Ewing. A female victim reported she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, who had fled. The deputies responded to the residents and contacted the victim.

Louisiana, Mo., man in Marion County Jail after allegedly striking child in vehicle
HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Louisiana, Mo., man is in the Marion County Jail facing child welfare charges. The 10th Judicial District Court of Marion County issued warrants on Thursday, May 16, for Kaleb A. Jackson, 22, charging him with felony endangering the welfare of a child and felony abuse/neglect of a child. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Wednesday.

ADAMS COUNTY, Ill. — One teacher from an Adams County school and one teacher from a Quincy school were recognized as the Adams County Career Guidance Team celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week May 6-10. The Adams County Career Guidance Team’s mission is to encourage and foster awareness of careers, educate youths and job seekers about area career opportunities and build connections between families and local employers. Two Hannibal men charged with receiving stolen property from multiple places
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Two Hannibal men were charged with two counts each of receiving stolen property after their arrests on Wednesday. The 10th Judicial District of Marion County issued felony warrants Wednesday, May 15 on Cody S. Rickey, 33, of Hannibal, and Jeffrey L. Porter Jr., 37, of Hannibal. The warrants stem from a report was made with the Hannibal Police Department on Tuesday.
