Canton woman in Lewis County Jail faces possession of methamphetamine charge
CANTON, Mo. — A Canton woman with previous drug convictions in Adams and Hancock counties in Illinois faces more drug charges in Lewis County. A Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop for speed in rural Lewis County on May 3. The driver was identified as Leslie A. Kirby, 41. After further investigation, it was determined Miss Kirby’s Illinois driver’s license had been revoked. She was arrested and transported to the Lewis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.

City to repair less streets this year
FORT MADISON – City officials have identified four stretches of road that will be resurfaced as part of $300,000 that was budgeted in the upcoming fiscal year. City Public Works Director Mark Bousselot said the city will be resurfacing 5th Street from Avenue E to Avenue F; Avenue F from 15th to 16th Street, Avenue I from 20th to 21st streets and Avenue N from 27th Street to 29th Street.
