Body of Massachusetts woman missing for over a month found off trail in New York

The body of a Massachusetts woman who had been missing for over a month was found off a trail in New York State .

Fae Morgana Barbone, 40, from Hanson Massachusetts , was last seen on March 7, according to police. Her body was found off the Taconic Crest Trail, close to the border of Massachusetts .

Williamstown Police Department was notified by New York State Police that the remains were identified as Ms Barbone.

A spokesman for Williamstown Police Department said: "Williamstown Police are saddened to report being notified by New York State Police that a body was found just off the Taconic Crest Trail in New York State, not far from the Massachusetts border.

"It's been confirmed that the remains are those of Fae Morgana Barbone, the missing person last seen in the area in early March, which prompted extensive searches over several days by multiple agencies. Further questions can be directed to New York State Police (Brunswick) or Abington Police."

Massachusetts State Police said Ms Barbone’s last known location was in the area of Williamstown, Massachusetts, on March 7. Her black Ford Fiesta, with Massachusetts plate 259TB2, was parked on a street in Augusta, Maine, on that same day.

Police carried out an extensive search for Ms Barbone over the last six weeks with a drone and K-9 unit. The scope of their search stretched from her home in Hanson, to Maine, to New York , where she reportedly traveled frequently.
