One person has died and three others are hurt after two separate shootings erupted across Philadelphia . The first incident took place at around 4pm on Tuesday on Wheeler Street near Elmwood Avenue in the city's southwest.

A 29-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were found having been shot multiple times. Both victims were rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where the woman later died . Her name is not yet known.

The man in question is fighting for his life in hospital, reports 6ABC. A vehicle that had some of its windows blown out was seemingly the focus of a police investigation at the scene.

The second incident happened an hour after the first, and only half a mile away when a man driving on 72nd Street near Passyunk Avenue got out of his vehicle and started shooting in the direction of a pizza restaurant.

A man across the street, in front of the pizza shop , was shot in the leg, Inspector Michael Gormley with Philadelphia police explained. He was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

An individual later arrived at the police station with injuries that came from that shooting. It is believed they were hit by a bullet fragmentation or glass from a shattered window.

No weapons have been found and no arrests have been made in either case. An investigation is underway to determine whether the two incidents are related.
