Janesville Police Department unveils new squad car design
JANESVILLE— The Janesville Police Department’s squad cars are getting a new look. It has been 15 years since the department changed the design on the vehicles. According to a release, the subdued nature of the graphics on the new design is based on scientific studies related to distracted drivers and the highly detailed graphics on emergency vehicles along with the flash patterns of lights. It follows a decision by the department several years ago to change its emergency lights to have less of a flashing pattern. Other agencies throughout the state and country are also moving toward this type of design. There will be five newly designed vehicles put into service this year along with a UTV and F-150. The department will share more information once those vehicles are ready to use.
