Chatham County Sheriff in hospital
SAVANNAH, Ga. — Deputies say Chatham County Sheriff John Wilcher is currently in the hospital in critical condition. The cause of the sheriff's hospitalization is unclear. In a post to Facebook, Chief Deputy Gary Taylor said, "We understand that this news may come as a surprise and that many of you may have questions or concerns. A park bench at the traffic circle at Squire Pope and Gumtree roads has now been adorned with a boat anchor in memory of Bluffton resident Jason Flack who was killed in a hit-and-run collision on February 25 on Hilton Head Island.
