    Mountaineer Brewfest is returning for its 10th year this August

    WHEELING, W.Va. (WBOY) — Long-standing craft beer festival and charity fundraiser Mountaineer Brewfest is returning in 2024 with 18 breweries and cideries all hailing from West Virginia.

    • When: Aug. 17, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. (VIP entry at 3 p.m.)
    • Where: Heritage Port in Wheeling, West Virginia.

    About half of the craft breweries in West Virginia will be offering samples of their beer at the festival:

    • Big Timber Brewing – Elkins, W.Va.
    • Greenbriar Valley Brewing – Maxwelton, W.Va.
    • Screech Owl Brewing – Bruceton Mills, W.Va.
    • Parkersburg Brewing Company – Parkersburg, W.Va.
    • Mountain State Brewing Co. – Thomas, W.Va.
    • Weathered Ground Brewing – Cool Ridge, W.Va.
    • Berkeley Springs Brewing – Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
    • Stumptown Ales – Davis, W.Va.
    • Free Folk Brewery – Fayetteville, W.Va.
    • Hawk Knob Appalachian Hard Cider – Lewisburg, W.Va.
    • Fife Street Brewing – Charleston, W.Va.
    • The Peddler – Huntington, W.Va.
    • High Ground Brewing – Terra Alta, W.Va.
    • Abolitionist Ale Works – Charles Town, W.Va.
    • Bridge Brew Works – Fayetteville, W.Va.
    • Old Spruce Brewing – Snowshoe, W.Va.
    • Short Story Brewing – Rivesville, W.Va.
    • Brew Keepers – Wheeling, W.Va.

    This year the proceeds from Mountaineer Brewfest will be donated to Helping Heroes , a Wheeling resource center for veterans that offers emergency housing, employment and financial counseling, food and clothing to veterans in need.     West Virginia distilleries bring home 5 medals from World Spirits Competition

    According to a press release from Mountaineer Brewfest, the event has helped raise more than $200,000 for Wheeling area charities over the last nine years.

    Four bands and artists will be performing live during the event, including “Tyler Porter” at 3 p.m., “The Clintones” at 4:30 p.m. “Wayland” at 6:30 p.m. and “Steal the Sky” at 8:30 p.m.

    Mountaineer Brewfest will also be holding a VIP craft beer and food pairing two days before the event on Thursday, Aug. 15 at the Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack. According to the release, craft beer from Short Story Brewing will be paired with food made by the hotel’s Executive Chef John Greenwald.

    The main festival on Aug. 17 will also have “special 10-Year Anniversary activities” as well as a beer garden with 50 more beers for sampling.

    Tickets for the event will go on sale June 1 and can be found at either the Mountaineer Brewfest website or the official Facebook page . They can also be bought in person at Yourkovich & Associates in Wheeling; early ticket pricing will be available until July 31.

    • General Admission: $35
    • VIP ticket: $70
    • VIP ticket plus craft beer and food pairing: $80

    Regular ticket pricing

    • General Admission: $45
    • VIP ticket: $80
