WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — Hundreds of people came out to Wheeling today for an event never seen in the Friendly City.
In collaboration with the Pine Room studios, Waterfront Hall hosted Wheeling’s first Waterfront Festival and North Atlantic Beer Mile on Saturday.
The festival included food from Waterfront Hall’s tenants, Avenue Eats, and The Woodfired Pizza Company.
Various vendors and local non-profit organizations were also at the event to provide something for everyone to enjoy.
At 2 p.m., the Pine Room Studios started its North Atlantic Beer Mile, which is a mile-long race where contestants drink four beers throughout the mile. The owner of Waterfront Hall and a member of the Pine Room Studios share how big of a success the first festival was.
Ever since we opened in August, I’ve been blown away by how much support there’s been for this concept waterfront hall itself, and now there is incredible support for the festival. I feel like it’s something that we could do year in and year out. We’re having a great time.”
Dan Milleson – Owner, Waterfront Hall
We had 200 general admission pre-sale tickets just come to watch the race and be at the festival. Over 80 runners have signed up to walk, run, and do it as a relay. So we’re excited to bring something new to the community, put on a great event, represent the city of Wheeling and, and keep moving forward.”
Brian Campbell – Co-Founder, Pine Room Studio
In honor of “May the Fourth be with you,” everyone was encouraged to wear their best Star Wars attire for the event.
