Youth Services System celebrates 50 Years of building a better future for children and families in the Ohio Valley

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — Youth Services System celebrates 50 years of creating a better future for children, families, and the community.

YSS was founded in 1974, and since then, they have built youth shelters, living sites, and recovery homes that offer an array of services and education programs that help children and young adults in the area.

Lizzy Griffith, media and communications coordinator for YSS, says it’s wonderful being able to celebrate the organization’s accomplishments alongside members who were there at the start of YSS.

“We just wanted to get together with the community, board members, past and current employees and really just celebrate the past 50 years of everything that’s come and things to come in the future too.”

YSS continues to impact young lives on a daily basis through its programs and looks forward to another 50 years of responding to the complex needs of youth at serious risk.
