Westfield to host 12th annual Earth Day Clean-Up event

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The 12th annual Earth Day Clean-Up event is set to take place on Saturday throughout Westfield.

According to the Westfield Conservation Commission, volunteers will enjoy breakfast and coffee at Mount Moriah Lodge beginning at 8:00 a.m. before grabbing their supplies and heading out to the cleaning locations. Safety vests, gloves, grabbers, trash bags, and buckets will be provided, while supplies last.

After the clean-up, the volunteers can return to the lodge for hot dogs and hamburgers at noon. Some of this year’s cleaning locations include the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail, Route 20, Union Street, Paper Mill Road, Route 202, Hampton Ponds, Whitney Park, Lockhouse Road, and Mederios Way.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register online or by calling 413-572-6281 to select their preferred clean-up location.

This year’s event is in partnership with the Westfield River Watershed Association, Hampton Ponds Association, Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail, Mount Moriah’s Lodge, Westfield Woman’s Club, and the Westfield Garden Club.
