A Springfield woman is facing charges after a stabbing incident in the City on Tuesday.

Jay Aaron Smith, 62, was sentenced recently in Hampden Superior Court to 15 years in prison for several counts of indecent assault and battery on a child. SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The trial is underway for the man accused of kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl in Springfield in January 2020. Sealed envelopes containing new evidence against Miguel Angel Rodriguez were opened by a court officer on Thursday at Hampden Superior Court in Springfield. Rodriguez is now on trial, charged with kidnapping a girl as she walked home from her bus stop in Springfield on January 15, 2020.

Officers found bullet casings but no victims or damage to property, Chicopee police said. An initial investigation found that someone had fired at a car, and it sped away toward Springfield.

Officials at the Big E exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts are dealing with an increasing trend of violence. This past weekend, a particularly severe fight led to two arrests. The altercation happened late Sunday night, with close to a dozen police officers needed to intervene. The individuals arrested, Nasiah Figueroa and Francesca Lopez, both 20, were major participants in the fight. Figueroa is facing charges for disorderly conduct and assault with a dangerous weapon, while Lopez is charged with resisting arrest and trespassing.
