Help MassWildlife stock fish in Chicopee, Westfield

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Each year, local kids out on April school vacation take part in helping MassWildlife restock our local rivers and ponds with trout. MassWildlife is looking for volunteers to once again join them this year in Chicopee, Westfield and Pittsfield.

MassWildlife began restocking ponds earlier month with eastern brook, brown and rainbow trout. From April 16 to April 19, they will be stocking several lakes with help from children. The kids will learn about trout and places to fish. The trout stockings will be held at the following locations:

• April 16: Hampton Ponds, Westfield
  11 a.m. at Hampton Ponds Boat Ramp off Old Apremont Way in Westfield .
• April 17: Hopkinton Reservoir, Hopkinton
  12 p.m. at Hopkinton Reservoir in Hopkinton State Park .
• April 17: Onota Lake, Pittsfield
  12:30 p.m. at Burbank Park on Lakeway Drive in Pittsfield .
• April 17: Lake Quinsigamond, Worcester
  10:30 a.m. at Regatta Point in Quinsigamond State Park at 10 Lake Avenue North in Worcester .
• April 18: Long Pond and Little Pond, Plymouth
  Two events: 10 a.m. at the Long Pond Boat Ramp off Clark Road ; 11:15 a.m. at the Little Pond Boat Launch on Morton Park Road .
• April 18: Chicopee Reservoir, Chicopee
  11 a.m. at Chicopee Reservoir on Johnny Cake Hollow Road .
• April 19: Colburn Pond, Leominster
  10 a.m. at Colburn Pond at Barrett Park, 40 Barrett Parkway .

MassWildlife restocks local lakes, ponds and rivers each year with more than 500,000 hatchery-raised trout.
