Central NY man arrested with assistance from SWAT in murder case, police say
Utica, N.Y. — A Central New York man was arrested for murder with help of a local SWAT unit Saturday morning, police said. James Beard, 47, of Utica, was arguing with Curtis Henry, 44, of Verona, around 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Boyce Ave in Utica on Friday, said Lt. Michael Curley, a spokesperson for the Utica Police.

UTICA — The first-ever Uptown Comedy Festival debuts Oct. 5-8 at the historic Uptown Theatre, 2014 Genesee St. Uptown Theatre for Creative Arts (UTCA) will open the auditorium for the run of the festival, marking the first time the space has been used in nearly a decade. Until now, UTCA has only used the Uptown’s lobby and smaller “studio” stage while fundraising for necessary renovations to the main stage and auditorium, and they will resume operating in those smaller spaces after the festival.
