Amsterdam woman killed in one-car Thruway crash
CATSKILL – An evening car crash on the northbound Thruway in the Town of Catskill has claimed the life of a 66-year-old Amsterdam woman, State Police report. The driver, Regina Levine, was driving between the Saugerties and Catskill exits at around 6:40 p.m. on April 19 when for an unknown reason, her 2004 Ford Escape, traveling in the passing lane, ran off the road, went through a guiderail, struck an earth embankment and overturned.
Two in Palatine Bridge accused of burglary, larceny in hotel theft
PALATINE BRIDGE, NY (WRGB) — Two Palatine Bridge residents face burglary and petit larceny charges, after an incident Monday at the Budget Inn Motel. On Monday April 15, 2024, at about 6:30 PM, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Budget Inn Motel in Palatine Bridge for a reported theft complaint. Upon investigation, it was learned that Aaron R. Ryder, 23, and Jenna L. Fox, 22, unlawfully entered the motel room of another individual where they then stole property, consisting of electronics and other personal property.
Schoharie limo operator wants appeal fast-tracked by court
The man convicted of manslaughter in the 2018 Schoharie limo crash that killed 20 people is asking that an appeals court give his case priority. Nauman Hussain was found guilty in May 2023 and sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison for allowing the Ford Excursion stretch limousine to remain on the road – despite knowing that it was in bad condition. The brakes needed to be redone, and the vehicle had not been inspected.
New York City man admits to bringing cocaine to Amsterdam
A New York City man has pleaded guilty to trying to distribute cocaine in Amsterdam. William De La Rosa, 29, admitted in U.S. District Court in Albany on Monday that he drove to a hotel on Jan. 25 to distribute one kilogram of cocaine to another person. When he arrived, law enforcement searched his vehicle and found the drug, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
