WESTMORELAND — A motor vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of state Routes 5 and 233 in Westmoreland, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol. At approximately 2:40 p.m., operators of a 2019 Hyundai and a road patrol deputy sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Wynn Hospital in Utica, where they were both treated and released.

UTICA — A 51-year-old man accused of beating his roommate to death has been ruled fit to proceed to trial in Oneida County Court. Matthew Johnston appeared before Judge Robert L. Bauer Friday morning, more than a year after Johnston had previously been ruled mentally unfit following the Jan. 11, 2023 death of 59-year-old Khame A. Boman.
