WEST ORANGE, NJ – The next door neighbors of the octogenarian couple who died in a fire earlier this week also lost their apartment due to the blaze. A woman and her daughter, a West Orange High School student, are now homeless with their dog and two cats.

Their friend Alisa Vural organized a GoFundMe campaign to help them recover. According to Vural, “They need somewhere to stay until they find a new apartment, and then they will need first and last month's rent, furnishing, clothes, supplies and more.”

Another friend, Stacey Feeney, shared, “The mother is the person who was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation. Their apartment was ruined by smoke and water, and they are scrambling to piece their lives back together.”

Feeney mentioned that the displaced mother and daughter are both lifelong West Orange residents. The daughter is a three-sport athlete at the high school.  The mom graduated from WOHS, and her parents still live in the area.

“Their needs are tremendous. We know that our community and our friends are generous and can help them. Please consider any gift to ease their burden,” implored Vural.
