13 road closures to begin this week in Michigan
Construction crews are getting to work improving Michigan’s roadways and bridges. From Sunday, May 12, through Saturday, May 18, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has more than 110 road projects scheduled to close lanes, ramps, and full segments of major roadways. Elementary students celebrated for Coast Guard-themed artwork
A group of young students was recognized for their artistic talents on Monday night during Grand Haven Area Public School’s Board of Education meeting. For several years, GHAPS has partnered with the City of Grand Haven to give students an opportunity to create artwork for the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to showcase on banners and on the lamp posts along Washington Avenue and at local businesses and homes both downtown and in Centertown. Cyndi Casemier, the district’s liaison from the city’s DDA, said students are given a general theme such as “lighthouse” or “summer activities” to base their artwork on. The top six to eight entries are chosen to be made into banners.
