OTTAWA COUNTY — The newest member of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners has officially taken office. Chris Kleinjans was sworn in as the District 2 commissioner Tuesday, May 28, ahead of the board’s monthly evening meeting. He defeated Ottawa Impact-affiliated Republican Lucy Ebel in a recall election May 7. It's the first time in known history two Democrats have served on the board.

More closures coming along I-196 Business Loop as rebuild project progresses
OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – More closures are coming along I-196 Business Loop as workers make progress this summer to improve a section of the highway. Last month, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) started a $17 million project to rebuild four-and-a-half miles of eastbound and westbound lanes of the I-196 Business Loop.

Spring Lake Public Schools broke ground on the first of many district-wide construction and renovations projects supported by the 2023 Bond on Thursday. The beginning phases of construction for the new secure entryway and athletic facility at Spring Lake High School kicks off the various projects funded by the $49.8 million bond that voters passed in May 2023. Grand Haven YMCA to get extreme makeover starting this year
GRAND HAVEN, MI - The Tri-Cities YMCA announced Wednesday that it has raised just about 75% of a $10 million capital campaign goal to enhance the building and programming. The “Y for All” campaign intends to: improve and expand the building’s welcome center, remodel and expand childcare, move the cardio track up to the main floor and create an atrium for children, renovate existing locker rooms and add family locker rooms, pool renovations, roof replacement, updates to mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems and the addition of modern furniture, lighting, flooring, illumination, wayfinding and wall coverings.
