Small Plane Flips In DuPage During Storm
No injuries are reported after severe storms moved through the Chicago area yesterday afternoon bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Some tree branches and power poles were knocked down in the city. Meanwhile, a small plane flipped at DuPage Airport in West Chicago. There was also a partial roof collapse at a swim school on the North Side. Classes were canceled for the day.
Marengo man found not guilty in slashing of man’s face with a knife
A Marengo man was acquitted Wednesday on charges alleging he stabbed another man in the face. A jury found Benjamin Boss, 38, not guilty on five counts of aggravated battery and one count of unlawful use of a weapon, according to signed verdict forms filed in the McHenry County court.

Illinois woman sentenced to 3.5 years for transporting drugs on I-80 in Seward County
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A woman was sentenced Monday after she and three other women were caught transporting drugs on I-80 in Seward County in 2022. A judge sentenced Jennilee Janae Velez, 22, of Addison, Illinois, to 3.5 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and a quantity of oxycodone. Once she is released from prison, she will begin a two-year term of supervised released.
‘Chicago should stay Chicago’: McHenry County leaders fret about possible CTA, Metra, Pace merger
McHenry County officials are concerned about a proposal that seeks to combine Metra, Pace and the Chicago Transit Authority into one agency. With legislation setting up such a merger proposed in the Illinois General Assembly, some McHenry County municipalities, including Woodstock and Huntley, have previously come out against such proposals, citing concerns about diluting suburban voices.
