1-year-old boy found safe, father in custody after alleged abduction in West Covina

A 1-year-old boy was found safe and his father was taken into custody hours after authorities say he was abducted in West Covina, triggering an Amber Alert Wednesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol issued the alert just before 2 a.m. Shortly after 11 a.m., authorities confirmed both 46-year-old Wesley Williams and the child, Weston Landrum, were found.

The Amber Alert all stemmed from a domestic violence call around 9 p.m. Tuesday on North Grand Avenue near Fairway Lane, according to the West Covina Police Department.

A woman was in a car with her son and his father, Williams, who she said hit her. She got out of the car and called police for help.

She reported that Williams threatened to harm the child before leaving with him.

Authorities had been looking for a 2014 white Toyota Tacoma with the California license plate 75001B3. Police say the two were found driving in the West Covina area near Cameron Avenue and Barranca Street.

Authorities say the parents are not from the West Covina area, only adding that they are from the L.A. area.

Williams was booked for domestic battery, criminal threats and attempted murder. Weston was medically evaluated is said to be doing OK.
