The world has no shortage of spectacular sites and awe-inspiring locations . Many people venture into unfamiliar places just to experience some stunning views, try thrilling activities, or have a memorable experience. Then there are under-the-radar spots that are either a well-kept secret by locals or waiting for more people to appreciate what makes it special.

24/7 Tempo assembled a list of the most breathtaking places in the world, but there's a catch to this list. The entries are a wide variety of places that many travelers may not know about, from mysterious man-made creations and natural marvels to remote locations and hidden gems.

A well-known yet weird part of Seattle was featured on the list: the Gum Wall ! The Emerald City already has a reputation for being a little out there, but nothing screams strange like this interesting attraction. Here's why writers included the Gum Wall on the list:

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this next marvel may not be for everyone. It started in 1993 as a small stretch of wall where people began sticking their used gum while waiting in line for a comedy show. The gum wall stretches over 50 feet on both sides of Post Alley and is now an unlikely top tourist attraction. Despite being cleaned once a year, the wall continues to draw tourists seeking to take a selfie."

The Gum Wall is underneath Pike Place Market, another popular Seattle locale.
