Peoria Police hold block party as a way to form community relations
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — As summer approaches, the Peoria Police Department held a block party Friday at Morton Square Park, that was free to the public. Sgt. Stevie Hughes is the head of the Neighborhood Services Unit at the department and said the event is an example of community policing.

Dramatic home run lifts Peoria Notre Dame baseball to first regional in 10 years
PEORIA — Lawson Alwan sent a screaming soaring blast over the right field fence that carried the Peoria Notre Dame baseball program to heights it hadn't reached in a decade. The left-handed hitting junior catcher came to the plate with Notre Dame trailing in the bottom of the sixth inning on Saturday, and belted a no-doubt two-run homer over the wall off a 2-1 pitch from righty reliever Miles Hoops.
Peoria Public Schools seniors visit grade school stomping grounds prior to graduation
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Peoria Public Schools held their annual parade for graduating seniors who got the chance to visit their old grade school stomping grounds. Seniors from across the district visited Kellar Primary, Charter Oak Primary, Northmoor Primary and Vivian Primary. Students were able to pick which school they went to, especially if they went there as a child.

Every Peoria-area tennis player to advanced to the IHSA boys state finals
Dunlap qualified both of its doubles teams plus two singles players Saturday for the IHSA boys tennis state finals next week in the Chicago area. Dunlap won its own Class 1A sectional for the seventh consecutive season and eighth time overall under coach Pat Gornik. The Eagles had 32 points, followed by Morton (27) and Peoria Christian (12).
