Jayden Daniels: 'I'm ready whenever' to start for Commanders

Whenever the Washington Commanders decide to start Jayden Daniels… he’ll be there.

The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner was Washington’s prized pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Commanders selected Daniels to lead the franchise as they attempt to make a new mark on the National Football League.

Daniels, an exciting player, made it clear this week that he’s ready to go whenever it’s time. Daniels discussed his future with Keyshawn Johnson on his All Facts, No Brakes podcast.

“From what I heard, they said whenever I’m ready, I’m ready,” Daniels said via Pro Football Talk. “So whenever I feel like I’m ready, I’m ready.”

Daniels mentioned that the team didn’t tell him when, exactly, he’ll start. But he’s prepared. “They didn’t tell me, ‘Oh, you’ve got to start Week One.’ They just said, ‘Whenever you’re ready, you’re ready. Whenever you feel ready, we feel ready, we’re gonna throw you out there.'”

Daniels probably won’t have to wait too long, considering the Commanders’ situation. They aren’t expected to contend in the NFC East this season, a division once again expected to be won by the Philadelphia Eagles. So, chances are, that time could well be later this year before the season kicks off.

Until then, it’s just a guessing game of when, not if, and at least that’s one plus.
