Woman avoids trial on illegal alcohol sales, gets ARD program
Jun. 8—An Erie County woman won't go on trial in Crawford County Court of Common Pleas for allegedly selling alcohol without a license in Meadville last summer. Antanequia Shakwaun Akins, 30, of Corry was accepted into the county's accelerated rehabilitative disposition — or ARD — program on Wednesday by Judge Mark Stevens.
Portion of Second Ave to be Closed On June 9

Pleasantville man accused of attacking two women
A Pleasantville man is facing charges for strangling his wife until she was unconscious and assaulting the woman’s sister when she tried to intervene. Franklin state police said in a criminal complaint they were called Sunday evening to a Pleasantville residence where a woman told police she had gotten into an argument with her husband, Dylon Leech, 22, that became “heated and physical” with both parties pushing each other.

State DEC to discontinue Air Quality Alert for most of NYS, including Chautauqua County... The region's Air Quality Alert due to the Canadian wildfires will expire at Midnight tonight by the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Chautauqua County health officials Wednesday night issued an advisory recommending that any outdoor activities today be either postponed or cancelled. Interim Director of Public Health Dr. Michael Faulk said the Air Quality Index did reach 160 in the county about mid-day. A few activities were postponed... including the Jamestown Tarp Skunks baseball game at Diethrick Park. Air quality becomes an issue when it rises above 100 for particulate matter -- in this case mainly smoke. However... forecasters say conditions were already improving by early Thursday evening.
