ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- Atlantic City began construction this year on a $22 million project to rebuild the Baltic Avenue Canal in order to protect the city from persistent flooding.As part of the project, the city will install six pumps on Atlantis Avenue to push out water from the underground tunnel into the waterways of the back bay during major flood events.Crews will also install screening systems to prevent litter from entering the back bay.The canal, which was built in 1912, is connected to hundreds of storm drains, and it's supposed to remove floodwaters from much of the city.However, city...

15-year-old shot in head inside North Philadelphia recording studio, police say
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 15-year-old is critically injured after they were shot in the head inside a North Philadelphia recording studio Friday afternoon, according to police. Investigators said the shooting happened on the third floor of a recording studio in the area of the 2600 block of Germantown Avenue just before 5 p.m.The 15-year-old was with a group of teens and has since been rushed to the Temple University Hospital, police said.According to police, they have not made any arrests or uncovered a motive in connection with the shooting. It's unclear what events led up to the shooting.
Donald Trump says he's returning to Butler for a rally after attempted assassination
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Former President Donald Trump says he is returning to Butler County for a rally after he survived an assassination attempt earlier this month. In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said on Friday that he is coming back to Butler County for a rally to honor Corey Comperatore, who was shot and killed during his July 13 rally in Butler Township on the Butler Farm Show grounds, and the two men who were injured. Trump did not say the date or location of the rally, only stating, "Stay tuned for details." The July 13 gunman, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, killed Comperatore and injured David Dutch and James Copenhaver when he opened fire from a roof near the rally. A bullet grazed Trump's ear. A CBS News analysis found that the gunman fired eight rounds in under six seconds before he was shot and killed by a United States Secret Service sniper. On Thursday, Trump announced a July 31 rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It will be his first time back in Pennsylvania after the attempted assassination.
PA's new app helps families of children with disabilities find parks that meet their child's needs
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new app is helping families of children with disabilities find a local park that meets their child's needs as July marks a major milestone in the U.S.This month celebrates 34 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law protecting people with disabilities from discrimination.The state's new app, Park Finder, details playgrounds and parks and lists all they offer the community, and is currently available online.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Americans with disabilities are the largest ranked minority group in the U.S., with about one in six children having a developmental disability.According to a release from the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society's Good for You initiative, "Children with disabilities can have different needs for their play, such as more or less sensory input; however, playground play is critical for all children's cognitive and physical development, supporting socialization, creativity, and community building." With this in mind, multiple parks across Pennsylvania are tailoring their playground designs to children of all abilities and implementing special features like an interactive sensory green garden or an Augmented and Alternative Communication tool that uses pictures and symbols to help children with nonverbal communication.

CrowdStrike said that nearly all Microsoft Windows sensors are operational again after a faulty update by the cybersecurity company crippled computer systems across the world.
