WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — It’s a week where hospital employees are recognized for their contribution to their local communities.

We had the opportunity to stop by the lab inside Trumbull Regional Medical Center on Thursday. There, technologists perform a variety of tests 24/7 365 days a year.

These tests range from urinalysis, microbiology, cardiac enzymes, plus sugar and blood testing. Results of which help doctors in treating their patients.

“We’re behind the scenes; some people don’t even know that we exist like if you were watching a television show, and the doctors are doing the lab work,” said Emily Pikna, a medical technologist at Trumbull Regional Medical Center. “That’s not how it is. There’s all these people behind the scenes that nobody knows is doing the testing, so it’s kind of cool to be recognized.”

National Hospital Week runs through this Saturday, May 18.
