Springfield kitchen cited for second instance of out-of-temp cooler
A Springfield restaurant was cited for having its cooler unplugged, according the Springfield-Greene County Health Department's food inspection reports from the past week. The American Legion Post No. 676, 2350 N. Clifton Ave., had an unplugged cooler with a temperature of 61 degrees Fahrenheit inside, and all the items in the cooler were above 41 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the June 2 inspection report. The report indicated this was a repeat violation that was corrected by voluntarily discarding the food items and plugging the cooler back in. In addition to the unplugged cooler, other priority violations during that inspection included a salmon fillet without date marking and "adulterated produce" that was unsafe for consumption. Issues found during inspections fall into either priority or non-priority violations. Priority violations impact the safety of the food, such as cross-contamination between raw and ready-to-eat food, improper food temperature and poor personal hygiene and employee health. Multiple priority violations can lead to an establishment being shut down. Non-priority violations alone do not directly affect food safety, such as dirty floors, sticky tabletops or outside trash cans not being covered. 4 Ozarks kitchens struggle with sanitizer this week during inspections
Four Springfield kitchens had issues with sanitizer this week — with one kitchen having too much and others not having enough or any, according to food inspection reports from the Springfield-Greene County Health Department . Burn Boot Camp Springfield MO, 820 W. El Camino Alto Drive, was cited for having its quaternary sanitizer concentration exceeding 400 parts per million in its three-vat sink, according to the May 27 report. The violation was corrected on site. On the other hand, an Ozarks Empire Fairgrounds kitchen — Triple S Properties Bar & Grill - Concession Stands — was cited for having no sanitizer in its dish machine during a May 22 inspection, according to the report. The violation was corrected on site. Both Rebar 2 LLC, 2925 W. Republic Road and Springhouse Village Springfield East, 3877 E. Farm Road 132, did not have enough sanitizer according to May 26 and 27 inspection reports, respectively. Rebar 2 was able to correct its violation, but the Springhouse Village Springfield East will require a re-inspection due to a leak in the sanitizer line. Issues found during inspections fall into either priority or non-priority violations. Priority violations impact the safety of the food, such as cross-contamination
