Davenport vehicle fire spans hundreds of yards, damages electrical transformer
DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport firefighters are investigating a vehicle fire that spanned several hundred yards and caused damage to an electrical transformer. On Thursday, May 23 around 1:22 a.m., firefighters responded to a reported vehicle fire, finding items on fire in the street and a burning pickup truck several hundred yards down the road upon arrival. The truck came to a rest after striking and damaging an electrical transformer. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found the truck had suffered significant fire damage to the bed and cab areas.

Davenport police vehicle strikes garage while allegedly pursuing suspect
DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Davenport police vehicle crashed into a garage while allegedly pursuing a suspect. Shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, Davenport police officials claim that officers in marked police vehicles began pursuing a suspect related to a domestic disturbance case. During this pursuit, two police cars hit each other, sending one of the cars into an unoccupied garage on the 2900 block of Harrison Street in Davenport.

MidAmerican gives update on progress following Friday morning storms
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - MidAmerican Energy provided an update on progress made following Friday morning storms that crossed through the QCA. “MidAmerican crews made great progress since the severe storms passed across the territory this morning, restoring over 39,000 customers across the service area. Local crews continue their work and crews from surrounding states in the Midwest and as far away as Texas are enroute to support the restoration. As of 3:30 p.m., we have approximately 9,100 customers remaining to restore. We expect to continue making progress throughout the day and overnight, with the majority of the remaining customers restored by noon tomorrow, and all customers restored by tomorrow at midnight.

Davenport settlement investigation: Court rules City must release closed session recordings for judge to review
DAVENPORT, Iowa — A judge has ordered the City of Davenport to release the closed-session recordings demanded in a Feb. 7 subpoena from Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand. Sand told News 8 earlier this year that his office would be investigating three settlement agreements made with former Davenport city employees totaling almost $2 million. Court documents show the auditor issued a subpoena on Feb. 7 for the following items:
